How often does my cesspool need to be pumped?

According to the United States EPA, “The average household septic system should be inspected at least every 3 years by a septic service professional. Household septic tanks are typically pumped every 3 to 5 years. Alternative systems with electrical float switches, pumps or mechanical components should be inspected more often, generally once a year. A service contract is important since alternative systems have mechanized parts.”

Remember, not all cesspools, septic systems, households, or businesses are created equal! Factors such as household size, septic tank size, the volume of solids in wastewater, and the total wastewater generated influence the frequency of septic pumping in a major way. For example, a couple living in a single-family home who both go to work during the day and flush only toilet paper and nothing else is probably going to have a less frequent amount of pumping than a family of five who is home most of the day and flush the toilets much more often.

How do I know if my cesspool needs pumping?

Signs that your cesspool needs pumping include slow draining sinks and toilets, foul odors coming from your plumbing, and pooling water or wet spots around the area of the cesspool.

Can I use chemicals to maintain my cesspool?

While some chemicals can be used to help break down solid waste and maintain the health of your cesspool, it's important to use only approved products as some chemicals can actually damage the system.

What happens during a cesspool pumping?

During a cesspool pumping, a professional will use a truck-mounted pump to remove all the sewage and wastewater from the cesspool. The tank is then cleaned and any solid waste is disposed of properly.

How can I prevent problems with my cesspool?

Proper maintenance is key to preventing problems with your cesspool. This includes regular pumping, avoiding flushing non-biodegradable materials down your toilets, and reducing the amount of water you use.

What if I have a problem with my cesspool outside of regular business hours?

We offer emergency services! Give us a call and we will be able service your system.

Best Flo is absolutely amazing! My cesspool recently collapsed and they put in a new septic system for me. Initially I was so worried because I wasn't sure what to expect as far as cost. Wes came over to look at everything and immediately put my mind at ease. They truly went above and beyond. The entire crew was friendly. They were very knowledgeable and let me know everything that they were doing. Honestly, it was a great price considering all of the work that they did. They even did an amazing job cleaning up. They tried to save any bushes that they had to dig up. They even helped to replant them! I have already recommended them to several people. I cannot say thank you enough!

These guys are great. They put in a new septic system. I just purchased my first home, and they went above and beyond. They are amazing. My wife watched the whole job, and they replaced my old cesspool with the new septic system in one day! They came to the house at about 9 am. with a big crew and was done by lunch. Cleaned up really well, and they were so kind and knowledgeable. Great price for the installation, too, will always recommend them. They also put down sheets because they didn't want to get my home dirty, which was so thoughtful. We will be using their services going forward. Attached are some pics my daughter took cause she was so excited when they were installing everything thanks again from the Maraj family! **Update 6/18/24 3 years later, and they are still doing a great job. Got my tank emptied, and chemical treatment was added. Good for another 2-3 years, depending on usage. Thanks to Anothy, everything was done on time and in one day. No complaints. Keep up the good work.

Was thankful they came out thanksgiving day, said the truck was at the max we was the 5th stop it was understandable, but @ $900 we didn’t complain we paid. Called so they can and finish the job, they sent the same guy out the next day and he want to make a problem and argue with my Father. As stated before was thankful and didn’t mind pay $900, but don’t come and argue when I paid for a service that wasn’t fully satisfied the first time.

I've had a flooding problem for years on my property. Tried many things to stop the flow. Wes from Best Flo proposed a solution that I accepted. They installed a large dry well to solve the problem. They showed up on time, clearly knew what they were doing, and did an unbelievably neat job, necessitating much less cleanup than I had anticipated. I would recommend Best Flo to solve any flooding problem.

Best Flo installed a new septic system and dry wells at a home I recently purchased. They were efficient and knew exactly what Suffolk county needed to approve the systems. Pleased with their response to my concerns and the quality of the work.
